LTE Pheasant Wildlife Technician (2 Positions!)
TheDepartment of Natural Resourcesis hiring two (2) Wildlife Technicians stationed at the State Game Farm in Poynette, Wisconsin.
The State Game Farm is connected to theMacKenzie Center near Poynette in central Columbia County. The goals of the State Game Farm and the pheasant stocking program are to provide quality pheasant hunting opportunities on public and private lands, promote safe and ethical behavior in the field, and cooperate with conservation groups dedicated to promoting pheasant hunting in the state.

**Position Summary:**
These positions perform pheasant rearing operations at the State Game Farm. This involves pheasant husbandry in the brooding/rearing operations, including flock health monitoring, feeding, watering, medicating, maintenance and operation of brooding equipment, unit sanitation and handling pheasants for vaccinations and transfer to range fields. These positions will also be responsible for the maintenance of range fields including feeding, watering, fixing pens and predator control, in addition to catching and crating pheasants (October- December) for release onto wildlife areas.
**Special Notes:**
This is a limited term (LTE) position. Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin. LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin upon hire.
Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the requiredI-9 form upon hire.
**Qualifications:**
*Required Qualifications:*
* General animal husbandry and biosecurity knowledge.
* Experience with hand and power tools.
* Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted to move pheasant crates and feed bags.
* Bend and lift repeatedly.
* Work in dusty, wet environments as well as inclement weather conditions.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Experience running heavy/farm equipment
